Northampton Saints Foundation – providing essential skills

Did you know that there’s a 7% gap in essential skills for young people from low socio-economic backgrounds?

Northampton Saints Foundation is a small but remarkable charity working to change this. By  harnessing the power of sport and values of rugby, the Foundation inspires, educates, and supports thousands of young people each year.

With funding from IICF, the Foundation has successfully delivered eight sessions of its Champions Programme providing 160 hours of learning to an estimated 500 young people. This curriculum-based programme blends classroom learning with sport and is designed to inspire and educate students, through the power of rugby.

The programme encompasses four interconnected areas of health, character, numeracy and heritage, empowering young people to build their confidence and essential skills and ultimately succeed in education, training or employment. In the words of one teacher at Lings Primary School:

“I cannot praise the programme enough. It is a fantastic scheme which the children love and are all fully engaged in.  It’s taught them so much in terms of resilience, teamwork, determination and respect and I can’t recommend it enough.”

The IICF is incredibly proud to support Northampton Saints Foundation and the life-changing impact they are having in their community.
