Making The Leap

Story Of Impact: Making The Leap

Following on the success of Social Mobility Day in June 2025, we’re excited to share the impact we’re helping to make with the charity behind it all – Making The Leap – a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of young people from less-advantaged socio-economic backgrounds by unlocking their potential and giving the chance to succeed in their chosen career.

Through a range of programmes focused on skills development, training, mentoring, and school outreach, Making The Leap empowers young people with the confidence and outlook needed to succeed in the workplace. The charity also partners with forward-thinking businesses committed to advancing social mobility through learning opportunities, internships, job placements, and more.

The IICF’s grant has played a vital role in supporting Making The Leap’s “Future Leaders Ambassadors Programme” – an initiative designed to equip young people aged 18–25 in London with the essential skills needed to thrive in a professional environment.

The programme delivers monthly, interactive masterclasses, each focusing on a core area of professional development. These sessions are led by volunteers from partner companies, who share their real-world experience and insights to inspire and guide participants.

By connecting directly with business professionals, young people are gaining valuable exposure, confidence, and career-ready knowledge. Remarkably, 100% of participants reported that the sessions enhanced their understanding of the topics and provided practical knowledge to support their professional growth.

“I’ve always been interested in business planning, but I found it to be a very daunting topic. The facilitator’s presentation and delivery style made it the topic easily digestible, and she used engaging examples to further solidify my knowledge.”
