Envision & The Hartford

Envision & The Hartford

At the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), we’re proud to foster connections between our corporate and charity partners, creating meaningful opportunities for business and society to thrive.

This month, we’re spotlighting an inspiring collaboration between The Hartford and Envision, sparked at an IICF event last year by CEO Carl Bach III. Inspired by Envision’s mission, The Hartford teamed up with the charity in April 2024 to deliver a 20-week programme designed to empower young people with essential life and career skills.

The programme guided students through four transformative phases—design, development, delivery, and reflection—helping them develop practical skills and self-belief. Alongside their social action projects at college, students worked closely with a diverse group of employees at The Hartford’s London office, receiving one-on-one mentorship, career insights, and a real-world perspective on the insurance industry.

This hands-on experience brought classroom lessons to life, highlighting the importance of communication, creativity, determination, and teamwork—core competencies at the heart of the programme. At the final showcase, students presented their projects to a panel of judges and an audience of over 100 peers from four schools and colleges. While the college didn’t win the top prize, The Hartford was recognised with the Mentor of the Year Award, a testament to its employees’ dedication and impact.

This collaboration beautifully embodies IICF’s mission: to unite the insurance sector and community partners for collective good. By combining The Hartford’s corporate expertise with Envision’s proven educational model, the programme not only enriched The Hartford’s culture but also opened doors for underrepresented young people—an impact that will resonate far beyond the 20-week timeline.
