Grants reception

IICF awarded its annual grants at a reception hosted by Weightmans at their London office on Wednesday 4 December 2019.
The evening featured a drinks reception to give guests and grant recipient charities an opportunity to mix and chat with IICF board members, and a small ceremony to award the grants.
IICF UK chair Suzanne Scatliffe thanked guests for their attendance and introduced IICF UK Executive Director Wendy Wilder.
“We are extremely proud to be able to award our grants for 2020 to nine very deserving charities advancing education and social mobility,” said Wendy.
Tim Yeates, acting Chair of the Grants Committee, and committee members introduced each charity and the project the grant will be supporting. Committee members included Tim’s fellow Ambassadors Ben Firshein and Heather Goodhew and Associate Board member Alexandra Gedge. After accepting the grant, each charity thanked IICF and described how the grant will make a difference to the people they support.
The Grants awarded by IICF will collectively help over 450 people across the country:
- blind and partially sighted graduates will be given support to secure employment;
- at-risk young and adults people in London, Manchester and Edinburgh will gain new skills and greater self-esteem and make a new start in life;
- and high-achieving students from low socio-economic backgrounds will be given support to enter top universities – and maybe one day work in Insurance.
