Nicola EvansDescribed by Legal 500 as a practitioner who is “approachable and pragmatic” and one that is “proactive, thinks ahead and provides pragmatic solutions”, Nicola has over 20 years’ experience advising clients on game-changing and often innovative corporate finance transactions.
Nicola’s experience is broad and extends to corporate transactions, domestic and cross-border M&A, joint ventures, the Takeover Code, disclosure and governance issues, securities law and the Listing Rules as well as secondary capital raising and restructurings. She is also often called upon by boards of listed companies to advise on their significant corporate matters. She has experience across a number of sectors including, in particular, insurance, financial services, retail and real estate.

Alexandra GedgeAlex has over fifteen years of experience in financial services and insurance and currently works as Senior Captive Consultant at Hylant. She has also worked at companies including JLT, WTW and Ecclesiastical and has served on the Associate Board of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation for several years.

Lydia Savill
As a disputes partner in the International Insurance practice, Lydia has more than 15 years’ experience helping her clients resolve their most complex disputes.
Described by Chambers as “a terrific lawyer who gets the commercial as well as the legal elements” Lydia’s deep understanding of the insurance market coupled with her thoughtful and strategic approach to litigation means she is perfectly placed to help her clients successfully resolve their claims and achieve their commercial objectives.
Lydia’s practice focuses on policyholder and re/insurance disputes across a wide range of insurance classes including business interruption, professional indemnity, D&O, fidelity/crime, trade credit, property damage, CAR and delay in start-up.
She also has extensive experience handling general commercial disputes, especially complex group/collective actions, as well as regulatory investigations. Her insurance expertise extends to policy review, design and coverage advice across a broad range of insurance types and classes of business.
Katie AllmanOver 18 years’ experience in the risk and insurance industry spanning client service delivery, new business development and broking.My background provides me with invaluable knowledge of all aspects of the risk management process from risk identification and treatment, through to risk transfer.
Before moving over to the client side myself, I was fortunate to have worked with clients across a diverse portfolio of industry sectors including Financial Institutions, Media, Retail, Mining and Manufacturing. My clients would typically involve large multinational organisations where I would be responsible for the management of their global insurance portfolio. This provided invaluable insight into structuring such programmes and navigating the associated legal and regulatory requirements.
I have a Bachelor of Law degree, am an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and have successfully completed the International Certificate in Risk Management examination (CIRM).
Rob BeesleyRob is a Senior Casualty Insurance Underwriter, many years’ experience underwriting public and products liability globally, including global programs, UK and Republic of Ireland Employers’ Liability, from manufacturers to chemical companies, foods and charities. Rob has been an enthusiastic and active participant in the IUA’s Liability Underwriters’ Group, where he is the current chair. He is a frequent speaker at the Liability Conference.
Aline DoussinRanked as a ‘Leading Individual’ on Trade laws by Legal 500 UK and Chambers, Aline Doussin heads up the international trade team in London. As a tri-qualified lawyer (England &Wales, Paris and Milan) she assists companies on the full range of Eu and UK international trade and national security laws, including export control, sanctions, customs, trade compliance, trade remedies, and FDI filings. She helps clients on compliance with EU and UK trade laws, export controls, sanctions, and embargoes laws, but also extra-territorial application of foreign laws, incl. ITAR and EAR compliance. Aline also regularly advises clients on all customs-related issues, including litigating Eu and UK customs’ classification decisions, representing clients in customs’ audits and investigations from EU and UK customs authorities. She also assists on EU and UK national security and FDI filings and clearances with both UK and French governments.
Aline is is a member of the Policy Committee of British American Business (BAB) and sits on HM Government’s Professional Business Services advisory group (TTG). In 2019, she was appointed by the UK Government to the Department of International Trade (“DIT”) – Expert Trade Advisory Group.
Robert LovedaySpecialist Directors & Officers (D&O) Insurance broker focusing on Private company and public company risk. Robert has extensive experience in the placement of multi-layered D&O Programmes and working through complex considerations to attain the best outcome available for his clients. Robert is part of the Management Liability team at Gallaghers in London, which manages a large portfolio of Management Liability/ Directors & Officers Insurance placements.
With background across financial lines insurances including Professional Indemnity, Cyber Insurance, Crime, Employment Practices and Pension Trustees Liability, Robert uses this knowledge to leverage the best results for clients, working with key stakeholders such as; Risk managers, C-suite executives, Non-Executive Board members and other officers of his clients.
Valerie Kenyon
Valerie co-leads the Global Products Law practice in London. She has extensive experience in product liability, product safety, and product regulatory work. Always focusing on practical and commercial advice, Valerie’s goal is to help companies to manage their risks and meet their business objectives. Valerie focuses on product liability litigation and product-related commercial, advisory, and compliance work. She excels in tailor-made solutions for the complex world of products, with a particular expertise in the global launch of innovative products.
She’s an experienced litigator, with a focus on product litigation as well as general commercial work. Valerie has a broad client base, including technology and consumer products companies and manufacturers, suppliers, and insurers of consumer products and industrial equipment. The depth of her experience includes advising on matters involving electrical and electronic equipment, connected technologies, cosmetics, toys, tobacco, textiles and apparel, motor vehicles, industrial equipment, and chemicals. She is co-chair of the firm’s IoT Working Group and contributed to the AIOTI (Alliance for Internet of Things, initiated by the European Commission) WG07 Report on Wearables. She is an active participant in the global Hogan Lovells Superwomen Tech and Telecoms initiative.
Technology is influencing all areas of law, including litigation. Valerie works with clients to help them understand their shifting risk landscape, as technology disrupts their industries, and helps them to ensure they’re maximising the use of technology to mitigate those risks, whether in compliance programmes or through the use of AI in litigation.
She works closely with other advisors, including test houses, consultants, certification bodies, and other industry specialists. Valerie is a member of a working group invited to engage in the consultation process around the EU Product Liability Directive led by the European Commission.

Tom HughesTom joined the IUA in 2010 as a researcher and now oversees the Associations’ aviation, casualty and wordings activities as Senior Underwriting and Claims Executive. He represents IUA members’ views with governments, regulators and industry. Tom also leads the IUA’s Developing Technology Monitoring Group, founded in 2017, which focuses on insuring emerging technology-based risks, such as Artificial Intelligence, Automated Vehicles andAutonomous Aircraft.
Karishma ParohaKarishma, a senior dual qualified Solicitor and Barrister has specialist expertise in complex product liability, product recalls, medical devices, clinical trial claims, digital health, and commercial claims and disputes. Karishma has accumulated wide-ranging experience in co-ordinating and project managing global multi-party group action litigation strategies and cross-border liabilities, particularly products claims emanating from the consumer, pharmaceutical and automotive product industries over the past 20 years. She has also advised on UK/EU regulatory and risk assessments to leading manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies.
Karishma is a prolific writer, publishing many articles and several book chapters (over 150 publications) and regularly provides webinars and corporate presentations on a wide range of topics including emerging technology risks and liabilities, product liability, group actions and life sciences.
Karishma has been recognised by Legal 500 for several consecutive years as a ‘Rising Star’ and ‘Recommended Lawyer’ for Product Liability Defence work.
Anna VidgenAnna is the Head of Claims for UK & Ireland and South Africa for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and leads a team of 20 colleagues across property, casualty, and aviation classes. Previously Anna worked at Renaissance Re, where she was responsible for leading a team of claims professionals across multiple lines of direct and reinsurance business, as well as having previously been a senior casualty claims adjuster at AXA XL.
Anna is passionate about the status and ambition of claims in the London market, and her work in this area includes being Deputy Chair of the International Underwriters Association Claims Strategy Committee focusing on transformational strategic aspects of the IUAs mandate on behalf of the company market. Anna holds the Advanced Diploma in Insurance qualification (ACII), an undergraduate Civil Law Degree, and a Masters in Law.
