Join us for an interactive discussion on how companies can drive social value, innovation and economic growth in line with the Government’s policy objectives. Our speakers will discuss the journey from policy to people to deliver social value objectives through improved access to markets for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They will highlight best practices, key challenges and practical steps for businesses to deliver measure, and report on the social value.
Speakers will also share practical steps your business can take to adequately cover the three aspects of social value outlined in the government’s guidance:
1. economic (e.g. employment or training opportunities)
2. social (e.g. activities that promote cohesive communities) and
3. environmental (e.g. efforts to reduce carbon emissions)
*The Government’s refresh of the National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS) was released in February 2025 alongside commencement of the Procurement Act 2023.
Speakers
Speakers and panellists bring a wealth of experience and diverse experience, giving you an opportunity to learn best practices, gain new insights and hear different perspectives on this important topic. The panel will be introduced and led by Weightmans colleagues Abhay Srivastava, Head of ESG at Weightmans.
Henry Wright: Founder of Bright Tide, a consultancy delivering climate and biodiversity solutions through partnerships with corporates and delivering CSR programmes.
Deepak Parmar: Principal Associate at Weightmans. Deepak is a commercial lawyer with extensive experience in the public sector with particular focus on providing procurement law and commercial contracts advice.
Nerina Wright: Recent Head of Sustainability at Crowe UK, Nerina has been operating in the insurance sector space, advising clients on bridging the action gap between aspirational ESG strategy and business practices to provide opportunities for innovation, savings, and building a more purpose driven culture.
Sarah-Jane Bolous has recently joined Humanity Insured from EY, where she was a Partner with responsibility for ESG within Forensics and Integrity Services. Before that she built out Lego’s global Partner Integrity function working closely with multiple departments, including procurement.
